My Debian Sid mini PC and Arch laptop are at 6.11.7.

The Ubuntu laptop remains at 5.15.0-122.

Remember I had added a 4Gb swapfile awhile back? Well Chromium and a make job
ate up the swap too, and I ended up resetting the mini PC... which made it boot
to Windows. I had to go to the BIOS and rearrange the boot sequence. Wotta
pain.

So now I keep an eye on Conky's memory meters. Also added a script to run as
sudo to clean up memory:

sync && echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches && swapoff -a && swapon -a

Not sure why I have this issue only on the Debian machine.

It makes no sense.

The REAL GNU/Linux user will understand his hardware and then
build a custom kernel to match. He will then build the rest
of his system to also tightly fit both the hardware and his
desires.

Only GNU/Linux allows this.

All the other poor dumb bastards are completely at the mercy
of Microslop/Apphole.

Been starting to get around to more domestic housekeeping; volumes here
upgrade from 14 to 40TB, plus I moved a bunch of domains off of a now
overly expensive provider. Just starting to dabble with a complete
rewrite of the pages, as the legacy stuff was in iWeb. Think I'm
starting to sort out the tools I want to use, but am realizing that
there's a large volume of content that needs to be gone through just to
get it back to where it was.

p and i are non-portable but apparently the AMD Ubuntu box has them. v
must be sort of freeform. I was trying to interpret

and saw the Debian. The 6.1 kernel would be from last year. I'm not sure
what the timestamp is and the man page doesn't go into it.

hostnamectl (yeah, it's systemd) says

Operating System: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS
Kernel: Linux 6.8.0-48-generic
Architecture: x86-64

Thr RPi, which is derived from Debian says Debian 1.6.6.51 so I have no
idea what that refers to. The fedora box doesn't say anything about
fedora except that's the machine name.

I don't do betas. Trixie will eventually be the stable release, and
I'll presumably want it then, just as I got Windows 11 on October 4th,
2021, because it was released based on a time zone halfway around the
world, where it was already the 5th.

I'm sticking to the stable branch (with a few backports sprinkled in). I
got burned by Endeavour already.

Dobbs rewrites this, it is invalid precedent. States are
liable for denying needed abortions, e.g. TX.

Debian Sid has been my primary distro for a long time, except for the
Ubuntu on my ancient ASUS laptop.

Sometime you have to be careful when (say) aptitude reports a problem
and offers multiple solutions to it. It can sometime pay to do the upgrade a
few days later.
