Anyway, the jerk was because the lander rose very
quickly and the change in angle was kinda beyond
what the pan mechanism could cope with.

THESE days they'd just present an 'AI' video sim,
kinda putting that in really small letters :-)

Well ... the XYZ camera mount was early-gen and the
little stepper motors and targeting methods were
only JUST so capable. As best I'm aware they just
kinda GUESSED at where the camera should point and
when and the little gears whirred as fast as they
could keep up with the program. Herkey-jerkey was
inevitable.

But the Vast Konspiracy people will grasp at
ANY straw. Gives their lives meaning, thinking
they're finding the Real Truth :-)

Remember when they had SO much fun with reflections
in the multi-layer helmet face-plates ? Were SURE
they saw a Hollywood studio in there ...

I actually SAW Apollo-11 take off from fairly close
range. They didn't fake anything THAT big - it was
the real deal. Sounded like the sky was tearing
apart ......
