I didn't didn't know that. Either I was misinformed or that has changed
again. I do know that it was New England cod when I worked at McDonald's in
the early 70s. I don't even know what a Pollock fish is. I'll have to look
that up. (I think I've heard the name before, but that's all.)

I had to look it up. Originally they did use Atlantic cod, but the supply
got scarce, so they moved to New Zealand hoki — and then, some years later,
New Zealand started limiting the number of hoki that could be taken. So
that's when Alaskan pollock became the main choice. Apparently some
McDonalds (in other countries) still use hoki, either New Zealand hoki or
Atlantic hoki.

Apparently the carp thing was made up by someone. (There is also claims that
carp is used at Burger King, who also use Alaskan pollock now for their fish
sandwiches.)

A lot of fish are pretty bland, and thus good candidates for breading
and deep-frying. At home I eat Talapia more than any other fish. Not
deep fried, only spiced-up. But then it has almost no calories, for
better or for worse.

A special treat is my homemade beer-battered and fried Walleye. So
good, but what a mess to make!

I told my kids what wearing their pants like that meant since they were
doing it. It's a symbol of the fact that you went to prison first
because they didn't allow you to have a belt while incarcerated, but
it's also an invitation to do as you please if you happen to be behind
the man. That last part discouraged them from wearing it like that in my
class at least.

showed the same 3-second video clip of a piece of earth-moving equipment
moving a pile of dirt in PR.

It appears I was wrong about the carp. I took somebody's word for it. But
when I worked at McDonald's in the early 70s, the Filet-O-Fish sandwiches
were made with all white meat. When I ate Filet-O-Fish later on in my life,
there were streaks of darker meat in it and the white meat was not nearly as
white as it used to be. So I just assumed that they WERE using carp. (I knew
something had changed and I remember seeing something about "New England
cod" on the packaging at some point. It's been a long time ago now.)

I liked the original Filet-O-Fish sandwiches. The newest ones I tried, no. I
even think the tartar sauce got crappier. Probably made with soy now. ...

I can't get enough Soybean Oil, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Sorbate and Calcium
Chloride in my diet.

Maybe it was the change in the Soybean Sauce... err... "Tarter" Sauce that
mostly changed the flavor of the Filet-O-Fish. I was stupid enough to think
there might actually be some mayonnaise in their tartar sauce. (Which
wouldn't make much difference now, as I think the main ingredient in
mayonnaise is also Soy Oil these days. Although I think mayonnaise, at
least, has some eggs in it.)
