Yet your feelings do not reflect the truth. They reflect only reality as you
wish it to be, not as it actually is.

Reinstate the Fairness Doctrine

Two more reasons to not vote for Trump in 16 days.

55) Trump vowed to protect American jobs, but offshoring
increased, and manufacturing fell.

56) Trump said he would fix America's infrastructure but it
never happened. He announced so many failed "infrastructure weeks",
they became a running joke! White House reporter,
"Since it’s infrastructure week..." (Laughter is the press room)
(To Sarah Huckabee) "*Is* it infrastructure week?"

Would be great

But for things like the Hastert rule.

We constantly have people like Mitch McConnell throttling votes on things
that are popular and would pass with a majority but for the fact that he
and or his small minority just don’t like it.

One man. Making decisions disenfranchising the citizenry,

He should be scared, with his lips that color.
Would be terrible karma if he himself had gotten Covid, while he’d been
sitting on the relief bill since like what, July 2020, which finally passed
due to (I guess) pressure and sick people losing jobs and dying people all
over the place,

And now we got that deity wannabe Mike Moses Johnson who stifles needed
votes on things that are popular and wanted.

On top of which, he gives those congress critters much too much time off.

North Korea is invading Europe and the congress, other than Mike Turner,
seem utterly unconcerned.

That .... but even worse. The Senate is designed to be non-representative, and
the House has become less so as limits of members has been reached but the
population keeps growing. Districts in highly populated areas now represent
far more people than those in less populated areas, making representation
unequal. This means that voters in smaller, rural districts often have more
political influence than those in larger, urban ones. This is of course even
more extreme in the Senate.

To make things even less fair those in the more populated areas tend to be the
ones who put into the federal government, where those who have more
representation get that money. Those with the least representation are paying
the most into our system. The irony is overall those who get the most are the
ones who scream about "Socialism".

I only know a bit of this... apparently N. Korea is helping Russia. This can
get very ugly very fast.

Wyoming vs. California. Doing some research now.

That was what I was thinking for the Senate... but it is MUCH worse than that
there.

In the Senate:

Wyoming: 1 senator represents about 290,000 people.
California: 1 senator represents about 20 million people.

That means about a 1:69 representational inequality.

In the House:

Wyoming: 1 representative for ~580,000 people
California: 1 representative for every ~770,000 people

That means even in the house a about a 1:1.3 representational inequality.

Wyoming has 3 electoral votes for about 580,000 people, or ~193,000 people per
electoral vote.
California has 55 electoral votes for nearly 40 million people, or ~727,000
people per electoral vote.

This means a 1:3.8 representational inequality

And yet California citizens give, on average, about $5000 a year to the US
government, and each Wyoming citizen GETS a bit under $7000.

Those who have the least representation are giving the most. Those with the
most representation are getting massive support from the Federal government.

Trump ramped up military operations in Afghanistan.

October 2019. U.S. drone strike in Iran.

Trump also deployed active-duty troops to the U.S.-Mexico border.

Your bleating about being poor was a reminder to me that 60% of US
households admit that they don't have a budget, and of those who say
that they do, 40% of these are done incorrectly.

Because so many folks are bad at this, I've been liberal in offering
basic financial planning advice. The above's a trivially easy example
where creating the spreadsheet took less than five minutes to knock out.

If you want to customize it for yourself, you'd need to do two things:

a) Adjust to actual retirement year instead of 12/2016, and look up the
CPI's for any added years.

b) Adjust to actual retirement income by taking the normalized $100K
and multiply by your (income/$100K) to recalculate all the values.

FYI, if you want to post those two data points, I already have this in a
spreadsheet, so its a quick update to customize a plan just for you, or
for anyone else who's interested.

I've already cite National statistics, whereas you've tried to claim

You've whined about how you used to be able to afford stuff before
Biden, but now you can't:

"I couls afford to do stuff."

So if that's not saying you're poor, than just what were you saying?
Be specific.

You care, as evidenced by making the effort to reply.

Oh, so now you _do_ care? /s

The answer is simple for anyone who knows basic finance:
it is because actual inflation rates vary over time.

Yup, which is why now you "...couls afford to do stuff." and you avoid
taking personal responsibility for your lack of adequate retirement
planning, but try to blame anyone but yourself.

I agree that in modern times the EC is not a good idea. However, the
representational issues you note are due to the fact that every state gets two
senators regardless of population.

>And yet California citizens give, on average, about $5000 a year to the US

These things are all arguable.

It would require a fundamental rewriting of the Constitution to change this. Do
you really think that in such a divisive, highly partisan political environment
as we have today, that such a rewrite would be a good idea?

The problem is that, like most foreigners, you do not understand the "United
STATES of America". The US is not as singular a country as most, but is in
fact, an assemblage of separate countries, aka 'states'.

The House represents the population of the US, the Senate represents the States
of the US.

The population votes and each state votes.

It is the states, not the population, who ultimately select the POTUS.

I find that a better solution than Britain's of allowing the Parliament
(Congress) to select the Prime Minister (POTUS) any time the PM (POTUS) no
longer has the support of a majority of the members of Parliament (Congress).

Two more reasons to not vote for Trump in 16 days.

55) Trump vowed to protect American jobs, but offshoring

never happened. He announced so many failed "infrastructure weeks",
they became a running joke! White House reporter,

That's Republicans. They were against "Obamacare" until their constituents got
a taste of it and decided they liked it.

It still astonishes me that Mitch won his last election by running against ACA

KenCare was Kentucky's implementation of ACA!

A friend of mine has said he wants to see state lines redrawn every 10 years
to keep roughly the same level of population in each state. Not sure I like

Right. But that leads to GROSSLY disproportionate representation, 5x worse
than what we had at the start of the country.

Right. I do not expect it to change. It is, though, key to many of the issues
we have in this country, IMNSHO.

I *wish* we had something closer to equal representation but I know we are not
going to get it. Might lead to the downfall of the country.
