The trend in idiot software, which certainly includes Microsoft
Winblows, is to report the date and time as an elapsed interval
using common words rather than just showing the numerical date/time.

Example:

On my GNU/Linux machine, the "Date" column in Pan shows "Fri 3:10 PM"
as the time that the post was made.

But if we look at the web archive "https://comp.os.linux.advocacy.narkive.com/"
we will see "4 days ago" or "about an hour ago" or "last week."

What the friggin' fuck?

This is now the trend in all software that is made for idiots.

Most of the software on Microslop Winblows does exactly this.

Give me a fucking break, assholes. I want to see the actual numerical
date and time. My fucking brain can work out the interval.

Fortunately, GNU/Linux software is made for technically sophisticated
users and only the numerical date/time is reported. (I am not sure
about that GNOME or KDE crap because I don't use either.)

Show the fucking date and time! Idiots!

I schooled you on this not long ago:

https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/?h=v6.12-rc3

Why are you bringing it up again?

Completely agree

I think there are at least three issues hidden in the larger but rampant
disease.

1
A lot of click-bait crap sources want to minimize the audiences' ability
to favor i.e. filter for more recent material.

2
Catering to otherwise acceptable needs to show relative ages and such
other options is no justification to omit what must always be included,
a correct and mandatory full date.

3
Some lobotomized half-lives still imagine that being traditional and
encrusted in since for ever brain-dead usage makes acceptable any
illogical format that does not have the month number or name between the
day and the year.
