You’re pulling a Carroll move here—just like him, you’re making up claims in
your head and holding others accountable for them. I was going to ask which of
my comments you’re referring to, but you’re not actually referring to any.
You’re creating something out of thin air and expecting me to answer for your
own thoughts.

So what you're saying is that you lost your job due to CoVid?

Or are you saying that you've not gotten raises, either because your
employer has not been kept up with the national average for wage
increases, or didn't think you were worth paying more?

Or did you (or spouse) retire, so your income has dropped from that?

Or are you just complaining that you're getting old and can't physically
go out boozing every weekend? /s

YMMV, but my hourly rate has soared, such that I don't need to work long
hours anymore.

> Crime wasn't as bad.

Interesting claim, because National crime statistics show that most
crime rates have continued to go down, despite the public's false
perception that things aren't getting better:

"Using the FBI data, the violent crime rate fell 49% between 1993 and
2022, with large decreases in the rates of robbery (-74%), aggravated
assault (-39%) and murder/nonnegligent manslaughter (-34%)."

<https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/04/24/what-the-data-says-about-crime-in-the-us/>

TL;DR: half as bad as it used to be.

Thus said, there have been changes in opportunistic nonviolent property
theft, such as stealing FedEx deliveries, washing checks stolen from the
mail, etc, but property crime still been trending down over time:

"The FBI data also shows a 59% reduction in the U.S. property crime rate
between 1993 and 2022, with big declines in the rates of burglary
(-75%), larceny/theft (-54%) and motor vehicle theft (-53%)."

-Ibid

So what evidence do you have of crime being "worse": is it merely your
personal perception? Or true for just your highly localized region?
Because on a National macro level, the claim does not ring true.

For those people paying attention, there's been many examples of
corporations who give big CEO pay and do huge stock buybacks ...

....and then try to claim that there's no money left for workers.

Boeing is one going through just prior to their worker strike.

I’ve addressed this many times, but you continue to avoid it. This highlights
an entitled perspective.

The point is: unlike you, I’m focused on logic and facts, as has been said
repeatedly.

Let’s move on. Don’t assume others are as focused on emotions as you seem to
be. Some of us prioritize evidence and reason. Stop the complaints and
emotional responses.

That’s the issue—your emotions are clearly influencing your behavior.

Great, and China is the 2nd largest economy..

Should that be our model for human rights, freedom or even Carbon Emissions?

China - 3rd worst for human rights
China - among the worst abusers or personal freedom
China - worst carbon emissions of any nation having more than the next 3
combined.

Sorry, but having a large economy.. isn't really a good measure of what is a
good place to live in or to emulate.

Depends on how you define success. CA does fairly well both with economics and
human rights. And they help fund the (economically and morally) failing red
states.

Oh,, and don't forget since they allow the criminal to plead down to some
lesser offense, then officially according to the records that crime didn't
happen.

It's amazing how little violent crime there is when no one is prosecuted for
committing it.

It's sort of like how shop lifting has dropped once they told people they
could only steal $1999.99 at a time otherwise they it would be shoplifting.

Suddenly, according to the records, shoplifting has been all but
eliminated..

The store owners don't see it that way, but since they don't know what they
are talking about, their opinion doesn't count.

Behind the USA, of which California is 14%.

Unfortunately, you can't claim that CA is a failed state by trying to
pivot from economics to something else to draw a false equivalency.
Particularly since you know that CA is more progressive than much of the
USA, both environmentally and socially...and STILL does well with GDP.

And China recognizes that they have pollution problems, which is why
they've become the world leader in solar PV deployment, high speed rail,
and nuclear power construction.

And why were you silent on Germany & Japan (#3 and #4)?

> Sorry, but having a large economy.. isn't really a good measure of what

GDP is merely an easy & irrefutable metric to rub your nose in, since no
one forced you to be so conveniently vague on your "failed state" claim.
