i tried virtualbox, but kept running into issues with mint and
xubuntu.

i used to have a dual boot gentoo-windows, that was years back
and having moved into a marketing role, its only windows these days.

Virtualization options are a bit limited under Windows.

You could do it the other way, virtualizing Windows under Linux.

Watch out, though: the cheaper Windows licences explicitly prohibit this
sort of thing.
