Yeah, this is where Winblows is at, in 2024-2025. This is what you
get when you run Win11. I'm excited about the new hardware advances
we're seeing - but not because of AI. I believe we're on the verge of
a revolution that *can* *include* AI, "if [one is] a fucking moron",
but can also be about other things, like right now I still have a
fairly new and usable desktop, but I could get my ass an ARM laptop

Running Win11 doesn't mean you have to use CoPilot, or Recall, or ANY
included Microsoft application at all (besides admin stuff like Windows
Update).

You never have to use:

Calculator
Edge
File Explorer
MS Store
Mail and Calendar
Media Player
Movies & TV
Notepad
Outlook
Paint
Photos
Terminal
Weather

You can uninstall nearly all of them, and hide the rest.

Then install 3rd party replacement apps - mostly free of cost - and make
them the defaults.

Then you have no Linux and minimum Microsoft, if that's your preference.

I simply haven't had an issue with Linux that I couldn't cope with.
And I don't need Microsoft's library of third-party apps, as if they
are better than what I have now.

I want, what today are the laptops with ARM. But not to keep Win11

Let's not forget that "recall" is not the only problem. Even with
"recall" off, that NPU will not sitting idle. It's scanning your
files. It's watching every move you make, to "help" you.

files by users who had written about content they deemed inconvenient.
There is no reason to believe Microsoft wouldn't do the same.

Recall isn't spyware unless it reports data back to MS or others without

In general, OS users of whatever stripe (Windows Linux or Mac) never
actually know what their OS is doing.

Fact is, very few Linux users even know if the distro they install was
actually built with the exact source files at the distro maker.

MS/Windows hides *everything* inside compiled, proprietary code. And
who tf knows what's happening in all those 'Service Host' processes.

It's all based on trust.

And I'm not worried. I definitely trust MS and Linux distros not to
collect or sell personally-identifying data.

While I would've worded it nicer, I agree that AI isn't super useful and
almost every implementation I've seen has been a marketing gimmick
and/or useless.

Fear of failure is a real thing, I will say that it could be useful for
getting something out regardless of quality but for most projects just

Unfortunately image recognition starts with the tedious task of
captioning. The 'hello world' of image recognition is a huge dataset of
dogs and cats, each labeled 'dog' or 'cat'. Guess who does the labeling.

Voice recognition is as bad if not worse. There are a variety of accents
to deal with as well as languages. A real problem is the very skewed
nature of the available data. English has the most data while Tagalog data
is sparse/
