'I think this settles it': Vance busted over resurfaced post jabbing
'undisputed war hero'

A two-year-old social media post written by Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH)
resurfaced on Wednesday, and it's not helping his campaign for vice
president.

During his candidacy for the Senate in 2022, the Ohio lawmaker appeared
on the right-wing Real America's Voice Network, where he discussed his
stance on Ukraine's fight against Russian aggression. He said: "I think
it�s ridiculous that we are focused on this border in Ukraine. I got to
be honest with you, I don�t really care what happens to Ukraine one way
or the other."

At the time, former NBC News commentator and retired Army General Barry
McCaffrey replied to a clip of Vance's interview via X (formerly
Twitter), writing: "JD Vance is a shameful person unsuitable for public
office. His comments are those of a stooge for Russian aggression."

Vance shot back at McCaffrey, saying: "Your entire time in military
leadership we won zero wars. You drank fine wine at bulls�t security
conferences while thousands of working class kids died on the
battlefield. Oh, by the way, how much do you stand to gain financially
from a war with Russia, Barry?"

Like McCaffrey, New York Times columnist David French also slammed Vance,
writing: "He�s talking about a guy with three Purple Hearts, two silver
stars, and who commanded 24th ID in Desert Storm, leading the attack that
led to one of the most decisive military victories in American history.
This is such a sad and shameful attack on an honorable man."

As the senator's post resurfaced on Wednesday, conservative lawyer George
Conway commented: "I hadn�t seen this before, but I think this settles
it. Vance is an a�hole."

Former Department of Defense official Mike Walker added: "JD Vance picked
on the wrong soldier when he attempted to besmirch the service of one of
the Army�s finest leaders, General Barry McCaffrey. Little JD must offer
a public apology and stop talking about things he knows nothing about."

An 18-year-old St. Paul man was charged with raping a 12-year-old girl after DNA evidence connected him to the crime, according to charges filed Thursday in Ramsey County District Court.

Steven Pierre Williams was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the April assault.

A second person also has been charged in the case. A 17-year-old male identified in charging documents as “RD” was charged in April with first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Neither he nor Williams appear to have a significant relationship with the victim.

The girl, now 13, was raped after she was driven to a house on Albemarle Street in St. Paul and taken to the basement, described as “messy” and strewn with beer cans and cigar wrappers, according to the criminal complaint.

The girl told police that there, RD’s friends pulled her pants down, RD had sex with her and she “zoned out” during the assault, charges said.

Williams, whose DNA profile matched that of a sample collected during the victim’s sexual assault examination, told police he was at the house for a “get-together” that evening and asked the girl for oral sex but she refused, the complaint said.

He initially claimed he didn’t touch the girl but later said he “had sex with her for eight seconds … and went back upstairs where he shot dice,” but that she “was OK” with it, charges said.

The victim said the assault continued until a woman came downstairs, began yelling at the males and walked her out of the home before instructing her to call the police.

RD was sentenced in August to 12 to 18 months at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Red Wing for male juveniles, according to Ramsey County attorney’s office spokesman Dennis Gerhardstein.

No additional cases related to the incident have been received, he said.

Two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and a kidnapping charge previously facing Keys were dismissed as part of a plea deal reached in his case with the state.

His attorney, public defender Patricia Hughes, could not be reached for comment.

Keys and an accomplice pulled the 14-year-old girl into a unit inside a West Side apartment complex on the 60 block of West George Street last May 23 as the teen was walking to her cousin’s apartment to retrieve her phone, according to the criminal complaint.

Once inside, the men took off her clothes and sexually assaulted her.

The girl later told police that her perpetrators smoked methamphetamine during the attack and occasionally blew it in her mouth.

When it was over, they threw her a $20 bill and left, the girl told officers.

She left the money behind and eventually disclosed what happened to her mother, who took her to a hospital for a sexual assault examination.

The teen told police that she had seen her attackers inside her cousin’s apartment building a few days before when they complimented her and a friend as they danced and sang inside the complex.

When initially interviewed by police about what had happened, Keys admitted to having sex with the girl but said she had initiated the encounter. He said he didn’t know her age.

Keys was convicted of second-degree murder in 1995. In that case, Keys, who was 17 at the time, fatally shot Heidi Brummett while attempting to rob her and a man with her at the time.

Arturo Macarro Gutierrez, 36, from St. Paul, Minnesota, was convicted on Tuesday on four counts of criminal s3xual conduct following a trial at Ramsey County District Court.

A criminal complaint states that Gutierrez was charged in October 2018 after one of his girlfriend's daughters told her grandmother that "daddy" had pulled down her underwear and hurt her.

It also says that another child recounted seeing Gutierrez in a bedroom with the girl and "demonstrated that the defendant was making a 'humping' motion".

The girl's mother took her to hospital, where doctors discovered that she had contracted gonorrhea.

A SWAT team later carried out a search warrant on a St. Paul housing block and found Gutierrez hiding in the loft.

He initially denied sexual contact with the girl, but subsequently also tested positive for gonorrhea and was charged, TwinCities.com reported.

The girl's twin sister was also tested and found to have the infection.

Two of the criminal s3xual conduct charges against Gutierrez were in the first degree, the other two in the second degree.
