Remote attacker can execute code by simply sending a UDP packet to a
Linux machine.

Wow, that's pretty terrible.

Do you have CUPS installed? The problem is that cups-browsed, the service
for dynamically discovering printers on the network, is a little too
trusting of the responses it receives. Does

ss -nlu sport = 631

show any listeners on UDP port 631 on your machine? If so, you can stop
and disable cups-browsed with

systemctl disable --now cups-browsed.service

and then the above “ss” command should show nothing.

Yeah, if you happen to have something listening on 631. The sky is
falling!

Since UDP Port 631 is ususally not facing the public Internet... not really
that huge of a threat.

Well, even on fuckin' IRC, I can turn an image into a text link with a
Ctrl-V. So, here I need Imgur. But it's the process I'd normally
use.

You use a Linux system, but you can’t copy/paste text out of a terminal
session into a News client windows?

I want to comment additionally, here. Yeah, I'm using a Linux system,
and I'm fairly good at doing so, but frankly with Mint and whatnot
they've made Linux as easy to install and use as M$, the question of
copying the results of what Lawrence asked me to do, as text,
presupposes that this would really relate what is seen in the
terminal, I suggest that my method while elaborate is the only way to
do it right.

That isn't a thing, then? That's kind of the point. We're in the

No. Text is searchable and indexable, and can also be quoted. We see this
all too often in online open-source support forums, particularly from
users who are too accustomed to Dimdows systems, posting screenshots of
text messages instead of copying and pasting the text.

Um, this is Usenet, not an "online support forum". What I posted was

Just be glad that it wasn't a jpg dropped into powerpoint. 8)

A few years back we had a customer send us a "list" of serial numbers,
with each number a jpg, so compressed as to be barely legible, in a
powerpoint. Unbelievable. The numbers were all bar-coded, and they
had bar-code readers, so it would have been trivially easy to just
scan them into a text file. But no.

Windummies.

No, it wasn't.

Copy and paste the text, please, I don't want to
go peer at your images of plain text.

Well, not to pile on, but Larry Duh is right: you should've just copied
the text from your terminal and pasted it into your post.

It's quicker for you to post, and everyone else to read.

Why did you take a screenshot of 3 lines of text in a terminal?

If you really see what I did as overeager, I would question how
objective that is. Retrofitting Usenet with graphical features seems
reasonable to this extent.

Then don't click the link, idiot. Not my problem, if you're another
one of these old people stuck in your ways. Modern people would show
this as a screenshot. Get fucked.
