Perhaps, but going with a straight fortune 500 might be a good start.

Better than the return the substandard government securities have, which is
just us paying the interest, as well as the principle they have 'borrowed'.
We're barely making inflation rates with 3% interest. That's a pretty shitty
retirement account that gains no value.....

That's still picking ... and Small Businesses would be disadvantaged.

Except that those securities have low returns because they're considered
to be low/lowest risk: fundamentally, the Market works from how higher
returns require higher risk (including risk of total loss).

If your money is only making 3%, sounds like you need to shop around
more: there's FDIC insured savings accounts currently paying 5% APR.

Plus don't forget that Social Security isn't only a pension, but is also
a disability insurance policy throughout one's working years: that
needs to be considered as well when one tries to assess its 'yield'.

Well, given small business loans, financial aid and such.. I think they have
enough advantage to overcome that.

Meanwhile, I will just acknowledge you're now having to make excuses.

On the contrary: I've simply shown that you're only offering
lightweight fluff, not actually serious policy proposals.

For example, even if we were to say to put SS into an SP500 index fund
so that it can reap the Market's classically touted 8%/year average,
what are you going to do when there's a Market crash and the money's now
not there to pay this month's retirees?

Furthermore, what's the policy plan for when the SP500 stays negative
for 5+ years? For 10+ years?

FYI, don't try to claim that such timelines are impossible, because all
three of these (5, 10 years in the red) have already historically
happened repeatedly before. Indeed, there's even been one period where
the US Stock Market was underwater for 15+ years.

Summary: "invest better" is pathetically easy to say, but coming up
with a demonstrably better solution escapes those who make that claim.

OMG!
Do you ever step out from behind your abacus into the real world, open your eyes and see what is
actually going on?
You should go work for Harris because her and Biden keep telling people that Bidenomics is working
and the economy is great.

Remember that Iraqi war minister?

Same thing.

Oh, so you can’t dispute this either.

Inflation from the CoVid fiscal stimulus money is subsiding, and done
without an employment-crashing recession: if not a success, what would you
objectively characterize this as?

Or don’t you recall the high inflation and 17% mortgage rates under Reagan
which didn’t subside until he had a recession?

Yeah, that is just like what you’re doing. Well done…?

The good news about that recession is that the Market remained underwater
for ‘only’ 5 years.

Of course, anyone actually familiar with retirement investing sees where
there was a big old “Sequence of Returns” risk from that chapter…

…even before noting that Markets have remained underwater for longer
periods too. Case in point, the 1929 Market crash wasn’t fully recovered
from until 1954.

About the same thing that is going to happen when the government starts
defaulting because they can no longer afford to even pay the interest.

But at least I would be making a reasonable amount of interest off of it
until such a collapse.. as it is inflation eliminated any 'profit' I might
see from the government's mandate.

In which case, I might as well keep my money and invest it as I see fit.

Inflation, for the most part, is a direct result of excessive, flagrant government spending.

Tell it to Trump who pumped $8T in new debt into the US $20T economy.
