Just last week I updated the critical GLIBC libraries, the core
of a GNU/Linux system, from 2.39 to 2.40.

Very shortly thereafter I began to experience build failures on
several packages, all with the same error:

undefined reference to `__pthread_cond_timedwait64'

What the fuck could be causing this? GLIBC is beyond reproach
for quality (the whole fucking intelligent world depends on it).

After some debugging and research I discovered that the culprit
is GCC, or the GNU Compiler Collection. GCC has a little known
feature called "fixincludes:"

GCC was somehow using the old GLIBC headers. After a rebuild
of GCC everything was fine.

This was the first time that I was bitten by this issue, but now
that I know it will never happen again.
