Android 15 reputedly switches into doze mode 50% quicker than Android 14
https://metro.co.uk/2024/05/21/last-a-new-software-update-boost-battery-three-whole-hours-20880075/

Supposedly Android 15 could give your phone a three-hour battery boost.

Of course, many Android phones already offer a much improved battery life
compared to their predecessors, and the new software is no guarantee you'll
get the full three hours of extra scrolling - however, it's a good sign
that Android 15 should be more battery efficient than Android 14 was.

That is utter nonsense and depends on the state of the battery anyway.

Three hours compared to what? If a device already provides 30 hours of
battery runtime, 3 hours would be 10% more. But if you only have 20
hours, that would be 15%.

So "three hours" is mostly meaningless without a reference to the normal
runtime without this boost.

And Android 14 was considered better as it's predecessor as well:

Quote:

"Android 14 brings new changes to improve performance and extend battery
life"

After all it's always the same: the OS will try to run as few processes
as possible and stop all activity whenever possible. This ended in the
ridicolous situation, that apps got just killed even when you need them
and all kinds more or less hidden features you need to know to be able
to use apps which depend on background services:

<https://dontkillmyapp.com/>

That's one of the main reasons why I stopped using vendor specific
Android versions a long time ago and stick with Pixel devices or use
LineageOS whenever possible.
