I was just looking at this article, and noticed a common theme in all
the comments: highly complimentary, even effusively so, yet
essentially substance-free:

I assume this is some kind of spam? Would there likely have been some
accompanying email address or other link, that the spammers were
expecting would show in their comment? Only it didn’t -- apart from
the one commenter who used a domain name as their commenter name ...

Ah, I think they are expecting you to do searches on their name ...
