Okay, maybe "brainwash" is too strong of word here, but when dealing
with fake news, it seems to be somewhat in character.

In any case... For those who would say that America is a "Christian
nation" that was founded upon the Ten Commandments, please explain this
for me:

"The Treaty of Tripoli (Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the
United States of America and the Bey and Subjects of Tripoli of Barbary)
was signed in 1796.[2] It was the first treaty between the United States
and Tripoli (now Libya) to secure commercial shipping rights and protect
American ships in the Mediterranean Sea from local Barbary pirates."

In particular, Article 11 of that treaty states the following:

"Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in
any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no
character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of
Mussulmen (Muslims); and as the said States never entered into any war
or act of hostility against any Mahometan (Mohammedan) nation, it is
declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions
shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the
two countries."

The Founding Fathers wanted
nothing to do with Christianity.

"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming
feature."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"I have found Christian dogma unintelligible. Early
in life, I absenteed myself from Christian assemblies."
-- Benjamin Franklin

"The purpose of separation of church and state is
to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless
strife that has soaked the soil of Europe in blood
for centuries."
-- James Madison

As I understand the Christian religion, it was, and
is, a revelation. But how has it happened that millions
of fables, tales, legends, have been blended with both
Jewish and Christian revelation that have made them the
most bloody religion that ever existed? -
- John Adams, letter to F.A. Van der Kamp, Dec 27, 1816

"The divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for
absurdity. Nowhere in the Gospels do we find a precept
for Creeds, Confessions, Oaths, Doctrines, and whole
carloads of other foolish trumpery that we find in
Christianity."
-- John Adams

"Question with boldness even the existence of God;
because, if there be one, he must more approve of the
homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish,
Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human
inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and
monopolize power and profit.
-- Thomas Paine, (1737-1809)

"It is from the Bible that man has learned cruelty,
rapine and murder; for the belief of a cruel God
makes a cruel man.
-- Thomas Paine

"The Bible: a history of wickedness that has served
to corrupt and brutalise mankind.
-- Thomas Paine

"The Christian system of religion is an outrage on
common sense."
-- Thomas Paine

"Christianity is the most perverted system that
ever shone on man."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"This would be the best of all possible worlds,
if there were no religion in it."
-- John Adams
