The bankrupt Gateway Pundit! Now there's the ultimate authority on right
wing thought.

Let's hope that Trump's prison stay isn't too hard on him and he doesn't
leave in a body bag.

Gateway Pundit files for bankruptcy after election conspiracy defamation
lawsuits

website has been hit with defamation lawsuits related to 2020 election
fraud conspiracy theories it is accused of spreading.

The Gateway Pundit, an influential website that regularly peddles
falsehoods and conspiracy theories, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as
it faces multiple defamation suits.

In a statement on The Gateway Pundit website, Jim Hoft, the outlet's owner,
blamed the "progressive liberal lawfare attacks against our media outlet"
and admitted no wrongdoing. The company did not respond to emails from NPR
seeking more information.

The website, founded by brothers Jim and Joe Hoft, is facing a lawsuit from
Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Wandrea "Shaye" Moss over false
claims about election fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election that
resulted in their harassment. Protect Democracy, the nonprofit representing
Freeman and Moss, declined to comment on the bankruptcy announcement. The
Gateway Pundit also settled a lawsuit from a former official at voting
technology company Dominion Voting Systems, which was targeted by election
fraud conspiracy theories in 2020.

In the statement, Hoft said the bankruptcy is a way to consolidate lawsuits
against the outlet. But Chapter 11 bankruptcies are meant to help small
businesses restructure, said Mark Bankston, an attorney at law firm Farrar
& Ball who represented parents of slain Sandy Hook school students in a
defamation suit against conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his outlet
Infowars.

"It's not actually meant to be used as a tool of what they seem to be using
it for," Bankston said. "This process is being used by defendants who are
facing libel lawsuits. And in particular, it tends to be right-wing,
extremist publications or individuals."

The Gateway Pundit's parent company's bankruptcy filing shows that the
company has between $100,001 and $500,000 in liabilities and between
$500,001 and $1 million in assets.

Jones also filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after Sandy Hook families were
awarded more than $1 billion in damages against him in 2022. Because of the
drawn-out proceedings of the bankruptcy, the families are still waiting for
compensation.

The election workers who sued The Gateway Pundit also sued former Trump
campaign attorney Rudy Giuliani, who filed for bankruptcy in December after
a $148 million judgment against him.

"There's been a lot of hope recently in our legal system that certain
plaintiffs are going to be able to find justice through the courts."
Bankston said. "Unfortunately, these bankruptcy proceedings sort of temper
that hope. There is a lot of legal process in this country that is designed
to assist those who have a lot of resources to avoid paying their just
debts."

The Gateway Pundit has already been accused of delaying legal proceedings
against it. It takes time, resources and lawyers who can afford to wait to
get paid to support these legal proceedings, Bankston said.

Even with delays, the costs to sites like Infowars and The Gateway Pundit
from lawsuits are meaningful, Bankston said.

"Jurors are not happy when someone takes private people and spreads these
lies about them and ... turns their world upside down," he said. "Juries
will not forgive that when powerful people do that."

The Gateway Pundit used to enjoy massive online traffic via social media
like Facebook. Like other outlets, however, it has seen its traffic drop
off amid declining news consumption and industry changes including Facebook
owner Meta deprioritizing news.

The Intercept is losing money amid left-wing megadonor Pierre Omidyar’s
choice to stop providing funds to the outlet, Semafor reported on Sunday.

The Intercept is hemorrhaging around $300,000 monthly and is on pace to
possess less than 1 million dollars in reserves by November, according
to internal data distributed inside the outlet in March, Semafor
reported. The outlet could potentially deplete its cash reserves
entirely by May 2025 after Omidyar’s First Look Media decided to
terminate its funding in late 2022.

The digital left-wing media is falling on hard times in Donald Trump’s
America.

The far-left Salon.com is having trouble paying their bills, and unless
something changes drastically, they’re going to fold.

While they once had a staff of famous writers and IPO-ed during the
tech-bubble with a $107 million valuation, debuting at $10.50 a share,
investors would be left with pennies (though perhaps that’s a bit
generous, as a $100 investment in their IPO would be worth less than
half a cent today).

“Sadly, Salon doesn’t really exist anymore,” wrote Laura Miller, one of
Salon’s founding editors who left the site. “The name is still being
used, but the real Salon is gone.”

Vice, the global news publisher and TV company that was once valued at
nearly $6bn (£5bn), is reportedly close to filing for bankruptcy.

The company, whose assets include Vice News, Motherboard, Refinery29 and
Vice TV, has been involved in sale talks with at least five companies in
an attempt to avoid filing for bankruptcy, according to the New York Times.

Vice, which hit a valuation of $5.7bn in 2017 as media giants including
Rupert Murdoch, WPP and Disney clamoured for a slice of its youth
appeal, has been seeking a sale at a price tag of about $1.5bn.

Last week, the company – which has been evaluating its future since
plans to float using a special purpose acquisition vehicle (Spac)
collapsed two years ago – announced it was cancelling its popular Vice
News Tonight as part of a restructuring that could result in more than
100 staff being made redundant.

In February, Fortress Investment Group, the company’s debt holder,
extended a $30m funding line to enable Vice to pay overdue bills to
vendors. The same month, Nancy Dubuc, who took over as chief executive
from controversial co-founder Shane Smith in 2018, announced her
surprise departure.

https://www.breitbart.com/the-media/2024/01/26/nolte-left-wing-media-collapse-marches-on-vice-buzzfeed-sell-off-parts/

BuzzFeed and Vice Media, two failing left-wing sites, are starting to
sell off their parts, reports the Wall Street Journal.

“BuzzFeed … is looking to sell its food sites, Tasty and First We Feast,
according to people familiar with the situation,” writes the Wall Street
Journal. “Meanwhile, Fortress Investment Group, which took over Vice in
bankruptcy last year, is in talks to sell its Refinery29 women’s
lifestyle-focused site[.]”

The Wall Street Journal portrays these developments in much too narrow
of a way — as “yet another chapter in the demise of these digital-media
companies that raised money at sky-high valuations nearly a decade ago
only to struggle amid a volatile ad market and a decline in traffic[.]”

That’s not the half of it.

If you take a good look around at the corporate media landscape, online
and elsewhere, the wheels are coming off all over.

The corporate/establishment/leftist media are collapsing, and it is
freakin’ glorious.

CNN has fallen off a ratings cliff.

The Los Angeles Times is losing about $40 million a year, cutting nearly
a third of its staff over two recent layoffs.

The Washington Post slashed staff and lost nearly $100 million in 2023.

BuzzFeed laid off 15 percent of its staff and closed BuzzFeed News entirely.

Vice Media filed for bankruptcy in 2023.

Sports Illustrated shut down.

The Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Condé Nast layoffs are coming.

Jezebel closed.

Best of all, 2,681 liars lost their jobs in 2023, more than the previous
two years combined.

Get a load of this…

BuzzFeed went public in 2021, valued at $1.7 billion, and lost 97
percent of its value in the few years since. Now, BuzzFeed is selling
its parts, starting with its food sites. According to the report, Tasty
and First We Feast had “been a key component of BuzzFeed’s efforts to
generate revenue streams beyond advertising” through merchandise.

My take? BuzzFeed is so desperate for cash that it’s forced to sell one
of its few remaining popular verticals.

Vice Media went from being valued at $5.7 billion to being unable to pay
its bills, filing Chapter 11, no one wanting to purchase it, and now
that garbage site is valued at just $350 million. And like BuzzFeed,
it’s selling off its parts, in this case, “Refinery29, which saw a
decrease in revenue to $30 million last year from around $50 million in
2022, according to people familiar with the matter.”

A mere four years ago, Vice purchased Refinery29 for — wait for it, wait
for it — $400 million. So Vice paid $400 million for Refinery29 in 2019,
and now Vice itself is valued at less than that, at $350 million.

This is the not-so-slow-motion collapse of an ideology and attitude.

At long last, this young, ignorant, smarter-than-thou, know-it-all,
effete, smug way of delivering news and lifestyle content has run its
course. People are sick of the attitude, sick of being lied to, sick of
being told how to live, how to speak, what to believe, and what does and
does not make you virtuous.

The left’s rotting corpse institutions, including the media, Hollywood,
and academia, are all facing an overdue reckoning. Take notice because
these are joyous times.
