I live in a high tax state, NYS, and Trump's tax cuts limited SALT which at the time hurt many
NY'ers.
However in states where the budget is under control people did better under Trump's taxes and they
are the majority by far and I can't blame them. NYS, CA and other locals are out of control
regarding spending and taxes while there are far more states that have this under control.

As it turned out, I did about the same under Trump's tax plan but I can see why people prefer it.

Well, Democrats put in all those loopholes.

Meanwhile, even assuming the 'rich' paid 100% of their 'increase in net
wealth' they would pay the federal government to run a week.

The federal government spend $6.2 Trillion in 2023
That's about $17 Billion dollars a day
Which is $708 Million dollars an hour
or $11.8 Million per minute
or $196,600 per second.

Yea, even if you set their income tax at 100% I doubt it would cover much
more than 2 days at most.

But Democrats love the 'tax the rich' refrain because then they can feel
better about spending our money on crap because they somehow think we aren't
going to be the ones that pay for it. However, we do pay for it. For
example, we're gong to tax rich corporations, they have lots of money and
make tons of money. So we tax Company X.

Company X sees that as a "cost of doing business" and thus an expense, which
reduces their net profit margin (a standard metric used to establish
everything down to the price of goods and services they provide)
This tax is then levied against the companies "gross profits" which
therefore reduces the "net profits" as more of the gross profits are going
to something else. So they raise their prices, passing that tax along to the
consumer, thus increasing their gross profits and bringing their net profits
back to where they were... Oh, but wait.. that reduced the percentage of
income that is net profits.. so they raise their prices even further to
adjust for this so that Net Profits remains at x% of total sales.

Ever wonder why companies announce record profits after a big tax increase..
because they increased prices to maintain their net profit at x% of sales..
sales which increased because of the price increased caused by the taxation.

So corporations pay no taxes.. they merely collect them for the government
in the form of higher prices.. and they increase their net profit for doing
so.

Who buys most of what companies produce? It isn't usually the rich.

This BTW is ECON101 stuff, but apparently Democrats have an aversion to such
education.

I will note that that today, between direct and indirect taxation about
50-60% of an American's gross income gets filtered away for taxes in one
form or another.

Your parents, or grandparents (depending on your age) were paying about 18%
of their gross income in profit.

And yet, the government is deeper in debt every day from all it's spending
despite having a bigger piece of the pie.

Tax and Spend is not an acceptable government policy. The power of taxation
should be REMOVED from the control of all levels of government.

Really? You think he's paid $8.5 Million in taxes over his life? Trump paid
that in one year just in state and local taxes in 2020.

He has paid the taxes he owes, if you have any evidence otherwise, produce
it.

What you mean to say, is that Trump takes full advantage of the tax laws to
minimize the taxes he owes, which even SCOTUS has stated is perfectly legal
and the right of everyone to do.

What you really want to bitch about is that you don't think he's paying
whatever level of taxes YOU think he should.....

But then YOU don't get to decide that, do you?

Bingo. Further everyone can do the same. Do you know why they call it the
1040EZ tax form.. because it's an EZ way for the government to get extra
taxes from you.
Higher taxes for the sake of convenience that's the EZ way to do your taxes.
