The problem with modern dictionaries is that they validate the shitty usage of
ignorant do-nothings like Skeeter-Shit Jack-Off Shit-4-Braincell and scooter.
Skeeter-Shit is one who insists that "cowardly" can be an adverb: "You cowardly
ran away from my post." "Cowardly" is not an adverb, no matter what
Merriam-Webster says, and educated people do not use it as one, *ever*. scooter
is even worse. He very frequently writes "creditability" (not a word) when what
he means is "credibility." You might find some mediocrity-promoting dictionaries
that contain "creditability," but when they give a meaning for it, it is *not*
synonymous with "credibility." They'll give a meaning for it like "deserving of
acknowledgement; praiseworthy." But that is *not* what "credibility" means —
"credibility" means "reliable, trustworthy."

Once again: because dictionaries are edited by people with a political agenda,
which includes attacking what they stupidly misconceive of as "elitism," they're
going to include a lot of formations used by uneducated doofuses. Just because
doofuses like Skeeter-Shit Jack-Off Shit-4-Braincell and scooter use some bad
formations doesn't mean we should validate them.

Not to pound on scooter too much — oh, fuck, whom am I kidding? I *always* like
to pound on scooter — this is a fuckwit who *constantly* uses the wrong words.
They are among his many other scooterisms:

"insure" [he means "ensure"; they are *not* synonyms]
"it's" [he means the possessive "its"]
"its" [he means the contraction "it's"]
"an" [he means "and"]
"and" [he means "an"]
"were" [he means "where"]
"where" [he means "were"]

Do you suppose that some day, Merriam-Webster is going to give "were" as an
alternate spelling of "where"? Is "it's" ever going to be listed as the
possessive of "it"?
