Ex-Hells Angels leader shows courtroom support for Trump

A former biker gang member who served prison time for drugs was among Donald
Trump's entourage of supporters at court on Monday.

Chuck Zito, who helped found the New York Nomads chapter of the Hells Angels
in the early 1980s, joined the former president's legal adviser Boris
Epshteyn and former New York police commissioner Bernard Kerik, who each have
criminal records of their own, reported the New York Times.

Zito served six years in prison after pleading guilty to a felony drug count
in 1986 and left the outlaw gang shortly after his release, and he went to
Hollywood to work as a stuntman and actor, starring most prominently as
Chucky �The Enforcer� Pancamo in the HBO prison drama �Oz.�

The Hells Angels have been described by the Department of Justice as a
criminal enterprise and linked to the Gambino crime family, and Zito was one
of the only non-Mafia members to attend the funeral for that mob group's
former leader John Gotti.

Epshteyn has been indicted in in Arizona for his role in a scheme to overturn
Trump's 2020 election loss in Arizona, and Kerik served a prison term for
tax-related charges and was later pardoned by the former president.

Law professor Alan Dershowitz and former intelligence official Kash Patel
also attended Trump's trial, along with Republican House members Andrew Clyde
of Georgia, Eric Burlison of Missouri, Mary Miller of Illinois and Keith Self
of Texas.

Colorado GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert on Thursday joined her teenage son at court
for the first time to support him in his criminal theft case — and fired off
a tweet bashing Vice President Kamala Harris just before her son faced the
judge.

Tyler Boebert, 19, dressed in a dark-colored suit and tie, appeared before
the judge at the Garfield County Courthouse alongside his attorney, William
Trent Palmer.

His mom sat in the first row of the courtroom wearing a yellow dress and
heels as Judge John Neiley asked Tyler Boebert and Palmer whether there had
been any movement in the case.

Minutes before her son's case was called, Lauren Boebert posted a message on
her official X account at 8:07 a.m. local time, attacking Harris, the
Democratic presidential nominee, and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim
Walz.

"Between Kamala Harris' 'I'm speaking' moment yesterday and Tim Walz's
stolen valor being exposed, the wheels are beginning to come off the bus.
Trump knows how to win. We've got this, MAGA!" read the post, which urged
Lauren Boebert's followers to tune into former President Donald Trump's
Thursday afternoon press conference.

By 8:13 a.m., the Republican congresswoman had taken a seat near her son in
the courtroom and was seen on a livestream of the hearing typing on her cell
phone. As Tyler Boebert stood before Neiley, his mom could also be seen
mouthing something to him from the front row.

Tyler Boebert has had several court appearances since he was arrested by the
Rifle Police Department in February in connection to a string of car break-
ins and property thefts in Rifle, Colorado. During one of those court
appearances, he told the judge he had trouble affording a lawyer to defend
him.

This was the first time Lauren Boebert appeared in court in her son's theft
case, though she previously traveled to New York City to show her support
for Trump at his criminal hush-money trial earlier this year.

Boebert's chief of staff didn't immediately return a request for comment
about her appearance in court.

During Tyler Boebert's Thursday court appearance, the judge asked Palmer and
a prosecutor whether discussions about the case are ongoing between
attorneys. Virginia Sorrell, a deputy district attorney, said that Palmer
had sent her a litigation packet, which she needed to review.

The teen's next court date was set for October 10.

Tyler Boebert is facing more than a dozen charges, including several felony
charges for criminal possession of ID documents.

He is one of four people accused of breaking into four cars in the city of
Rifle and stealing wallets to make purchases at businesses including
McDonald's, Starbucks, and gas stations, a police arrest affidavit said.

At the time of his arrest, Lauren Boebert said in a statement to BI that her
son should be "held accountable for poor decisions just like any other
citizen."

The Counterterrorism Section of the National Security Division has
supervisory authority over 18 U.S.C. §§ 871 and 879 cases. As great
caution must be taken in matters relating to the security of the persons
protected by 18 U.S.C. § 871, United States Attorneys are encouraged to
consult with the Counterterrorism Section (CTS) of the National Security
Division when they have doubts on the prosecutive merit of a case. For

PHOENIX –David Michael Hanson, 41, of Phoenix, was arrested on Wednesday
for making online threats against the President and Vice-President.
Hanson was charged by Federal criminal complaint on Tuesday with five
counts of Threats Against the President and Successors to the Presidency
and five counts of Interstate Communication of Threats.

The complaint alleges that in November and December of 2023, while
living in Arizona, Hanson used a social media platform to post threats
to murder the President and Vice President of the United States. On
November 19, 2023, Hanson posted online a series of threatening
statements including one that stated, “#joeAndKamala I’m asking you to
resign on Monday your alternative is death brutally murdered.” After the
U.S. Secret Service spoke to Hanson and warned him that it was a Federal
crime to post such threats, on December 23, 2023, Hanson posted another
series of similar threats aimed at the President and Vice-President.

Each count of Threats Against the President and Successors to the
Presidency carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a fine of
up to $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release. Each count
of Interstate Communication of Threats carries a maximum sentence of
five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and up to three years of
supervised release.

A complaint is simply a method by which a person is charged with
criminal activity and raises no inference of guilt. An individual is
presumed innocent until evidence is presented to a jury that establishes
guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

9-65.200 - Threats Against the President and Successors to the
Presidency; Threats Against Former Presidents; and Certain Other Secret
Service Protectees
The Counterterrorism Section of the National Security Division has
supervisory authority over 18 U.S.C. §§ 871 and 879 cases. As great
caution must be taken in matters relating to the security of the persons
protected by 18 U.S.C. § 871, United States Attorneys are encouraged to
consult with the Counterterrorism Section (CTS) of the National Security
Division when they have doubts on the prosecutive merit of a case. For
the same reason, dismissal of complaints under 18 U.S.C. § 871, when the
defendant is in custody under the Mental Incompetency Statutes (18
U.S.C. §§ 4244, 4246), requires approval from CTS. In other cases,
United States Attorneys must consult prior to dismissing a count
involving, or entering into any sentence commitment or other case
settlement involving a § 871 charge.

PHOENIX –David Michael Hanson, 41, of Phoenix, was arrested on Wednesday
for making online threats against the President and Vice-President.
Hanson was charged by Federal criminal complaint on Tuesday with five
counts of Threats Against the President and Successors to the Presidency
and five counts of Interstate Communication of Threats.

The complaint alleges that in November and December of 2023, while
living in Arizona, Hanson used a social media platform to post threats
to murder the President and Vice President of the United States. On
November 19, 2023, Hanson posted online a series of threatening
statements including one that stated, “#joeAndKamala I’m asking you to
resign on Monday your alternative is death brutally murdered.” After the
U.S. Secret Service spoke to Hanson and warned him that it was a Federal
crime to post such threats, on December 23, 2023, Hanson posted another
series of similar threats aimed at the President and Vice-President.

Each count of Threats Against the President and Successors to the
Presidency carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a fine of
up to $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release. Each count
of Interstate Communication of Threats carries a maximum sentence of
five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and up to three years of
supervised release.

A complaint is simply a method by which a person is charged with
criminal activity and raises no inference of guilt. An individual is
presumed innocent until evidence is presented to a jury that establishes
guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
