MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Mt. Juliet took an official stand
on God, and now a national non-profit argues it is
“unconstitutional.”

The Freedom From Religion Foundation criticized city
commissioners who passed a resolution last week that
called God the “Creator and King of all Glory.”

NOT sure if non-binding "resolutions" fall under
the 1st amendment restriction on State religions,
but they DO stink like road-kill.

In the USA, the State should stay as far away from
religions as possible - endorse or disparage none.
In essence, religions or lack thereof should just
not *exist* in the State mentality, never be a
topic of discussion or resolutions or laws.

Yes, I do understand that the 'morality' found in
some popular religions is seen as an antidote to
Gen-Z/A2 sociopathy - but it's a BAD kind of fix.

'Ethics', despite some popular precepts, is perhaps
the better thing to pursue with young people ... it
is not 'religious', but more 'empathic' - a "How
we are all wired" thing. Ethics can and has been
contaminated with local popular religious 'morality',
but it doesn't have to be that way.

EuroAmerican Xian or Islamic or Hindu - it has proven
FAR too easy to slip into the "Destroy All Infidels"
state of mind that has badly fucked-up things for
thousands of years. GOTTA get away from this - esp
now that the "infidels" have nukes.
