The historic day comes on the heels of 13 straight months of unprecedented
temperatures and the hottest year scientists have ever seen.

Global temperatures hit the highest levels in recorded history on Sunday,
according to preliminary data from Europe’s top climate monitor — another
worrying sign of how human-caused climate change is pushing the planet into
dangerous new territory.

The results from the Copernicus Climate Change Service show the planet’s average
temperature on July 21 was 17.09 degrees Celsius (62.76 degrees Fahrenheit) —
breaking a record set only last year. The historic day comes on the heels of 13
straight months of unprecedented temperatures and the hottest year scientists
have ever seen.

“We are in truly uncharted territory,” Copernicus director Carlo Buontempo said
in a statement. “And as the climate keeps warming, we are bound to see records
being broken in future months and years.”

Anthropogenic global warming is real.

Fail. Try again.

Q&A: As the Sun nears its 11-year solar maximum, what can we expect here
on earth?

Every 11 years the Suns magnetic pole flips. Leading up to this event,
there is a period of increased solar activity from sunspots and solar
flares to spectacular northern and southern lights. The current solar
cycle began in 2019 and scientists predict it will peak sometime in 2024
or 2025 before the Sun returns to a lower level of activity in the early
2030s.

SDSU NewsCenters Susanne Clara Bard asked associate professor of
astronomy Douglas Leonard to explain the science behind the solar maximum,
and whether the phenomenon poses any threats to us here on earth.

Scientists have dubbed this solar cycle 25. How did scientists determine
that the solar cycle is 11 years long?

Although some speculation had occurred during the 18th century, the first
decisive identification of an 11-year solar cycle comes from 1843, when
the German amateur astronomer Heinrich Schwabe identified it through a
careful analysis of the number of sunspots visible on the Sun's surface
over time. What he found was that this number reaches a minimum value
(typically zero!) roughly every 11 years. Evidence suggests that this 11-
year cycle has been relatively stable for at least hundreds of millions of
years. It also appears that our Sun is not unique other stars appear to
have similar cycles, although their durations vary considerably.

Since Schwabe's time, astronomers have continued to directly observe this
11-year cycle of sunspot activity. What's more, from tree-ring dating
techniques involving the quantity of the radioactive isotope carbon-14
present, we can accurately infer the solar cycle back about 14,000 years.
And, as best we can tell, fossil records indicate that this solar cycle
has been relatively stable for at least hundreds of millions of years.

What does it mean when the Suns magnetic field flips and how does this
affect sunspots and other phenomena?

To be honest, the Sun's magnetic field is an extremely complex phenomenon,
and no one would claim that we completely understand it. But, in a
nutshell, we know that it starts with the Sun being a big, hot ball of
mostly hydrogen gas, in which the atoms are essentially completely
ionized, which means that the electrons are all ripped away from the
protons. Having such charged particles zipping and churning around
ultimately generates a magnetic field. What we know about this magnetic
field is that its "polarity" its "North" and "South" magnetic poles
swap places on this same 11-year solar cycle. And right as the polarity is
about to flip, we witness a strong increase in solar activity: increases
in sunspots, flares (eruptions on the Sun's surface), and even coronal
mass ejections (huge releases of solar plasma thrown out into space). Once
this happens, we slowly enter a period in which not much solar activity
occurs the solar minimum.

How does the solar cycle affect space weather and auroras?

The most dramatic events produced by the solar photosphere (the "surface"
of the Sun) are coronal mass ejections. When these occur and solar
particles get spewed out into space, they can wash over the Earth and
interact with our magnetic field. This interaction funnels the charged
particles towards Earth's own North and South magnetic poles where the
particles interact with molecules in Earth's ionosphere and cause them to
fluoresce phenomena known as aurora borealis (northern lights) and
aurora australis (southern lights).

When can we expect the solar maximum to occur? Is it approaching sooner
than normal during this cycle?

This is a tricky question! In 2019, it was predicted that the solar
maximum would likely occur sometime around July 2025. However, Nature does
not have to conform with our predictions, and seems to be giving us the
maximum earlier than expected. In fact, there's some thought that we may
already be experiencing it right now. We won't know for sure, though,
until we are about half a year beyond the peak and have enough post-peak
data to indicate that it really was the peak.

Some people believe that the solar maximum could cause mass outages and
could be extremely disruptive to society, given how reliant we are on
modern electronics, power grids, and global communications. Is this a
plausible scenario?

Yes, I'm sorry to report that it is certainly plausible, but fortunately,
unlikely. Very strong solar activity especially the coronal mass
ejections can indeed wreak some havoc on our satellite and communication
electronics. Most often, it is fairly minor we get what is known as a
"radio blackout" that interferes with some of our radio communications.
Once in a while, though, a major solar event occurs. The last of these was
in 1859 in what is now known as the Carrington Event, which knocked out
telegraph communications across Europe and North America. Should a similar
solar storm happen today it would be fairly devastating, affecting major
aspects of our infrastructure including our power grid and, (gasp), the
internet itself. Although predicting such events is fraught with
uncertainties, most experts place the chance at about 1% during this
cycle. We live with the Sun, and the Sun will do what it is going to do!

Project 2025, the sweeping right-wing blueprint for a new kind of U.S.
presidency, would sabotage science-based policies that address climate
change, the environment, abortion, health care access, technology and
education. It would impose religious and conservative ideology on the
federal civil service to such an extent that Republican presidential
candidate Donald Trump has, dubiously, tried to distance himself from the
plan. But in 2022 Trump said the Heritage Foundationthe think tank that
authored Project 2025would lay the groundwork and detail plans for
exactly what our movement will do. The projects main document, a lengthy
policy agenda, was published the following year.

Although Trump is not among its 34 authors, more than half are appointees
and staff from his time as president; the words Trump and Trump
Administration appear 300 times in its pages. At least 140 former Trump
officials are involved in Project 2025, according to a CNN tally. Its
reasonable to expect that a second Trump presidency would follow many of
the projects recommendations.

Project 2025 presents a long-standing conservative vision of a smaller
government and describes specific, detailed steps to achieve this goal. It
would shrink some federal departments and agencies while eliminating
othersdividing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention into two
weaker entities, for instance, and abolishing the Department of Education
(ED) entirely.

What is even more unusual, and also mapped out in detail, is a plan to
exert more presidential control over traditionally nonpartisan governmental
workersthose Trump might describe as members of the deep state, or
regulatory bureaucracy. For example, Project 2025 claims that the the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and other scientific
institutions are vulnerable to obstructionism unless appointees at these
agencies are wholly in sync with presidential policy. To that end, it
would reclassify tens of thousands of civil service jobs as political
positions that answer to the president.

The independence of science is being attacked across the board in this
document, says Rachel Cleetus, policy director of the Climate and Energy
program at the nonpartisan Union of Concerned Scientists. The importance
of this science is thats how we can ensure peoples health and the
environment are being safeguarded. (Cleetus notes that her comments
address the policy agendas contents, not the upcoming presidential
election.)

Career scientists who are now employed by the federal government are
terrified and polishing up their rsums, says Jacqueline Simon, policy
director of the American Federation of Government Employees, or AFGE, a
union that represents workers at the National Institutes of Health, the
Environmental Protection Agency, the CDC and other agencies. If Project
2025 becomes reality, she says, the very idea of scientific integrity will
be flushed down the toilet. The Heritage Foundation did not respond to
Scientific Americans request for comment.

The policy handbook is not a light read. It is at turns wonkish, militant
and sneering (and sometimes all three at once, such as when it calls for
transforming federal institutions into hard targets for woke culture
warriors). It tears down policies to curb climate change, even though a
majority of Americans endorse climate action. And although there is broad
support in the U.S. for laws that protect the relationships and rights of
LGBTQ+ people, Project 2025 advocates for a biblically based, social
science-reinforced definition of marriage. The Department of Health and
Human Services (HHS) would become a Department of Life that would
explicitly reject abortion and promote the heterosexual nuclear family
structure as ideal. Below is a nonexhaustive listProject 2025 is 922
pages longof ways the agenda would warp scientific policies and processes
that have long been integral to the countrys functioning.

Abortion

Project 2025 insists abortion should not be considered health care. It
seeks to undo access to medication abortion, falsely stating that the
involved drugs have complication rates four times higher than that of
surgical abortion. In reality, studies have shown that mifepristone, one of
two drugs used in almost all medication abortions in the U.S., is extremely
safe and effective. Project 2025 argues that the Food and Drug
Administration should reverse its approval of chemical abortion drugs
because the politicized approval process was illegal from the start. But
earlier this year the Supreme Court ruled unanimously to dismiss a case
that challenged the FDAs approval of mifepristone on these grounds (though
the conservative-majority Court did leave the door open to future
challenges). The Heritage Foundations plan seeks to have the FDA stop
promoting or approving mail-order abortions in violation of long-standing
federal laws, citing laws enacted as part of the Comstock Act, despite the
fact that the U.S. Department of Justice has said such legislation does not
apply to drugs that can be used to lawfully produce abortions.

Project 2025 also calls for the HHS to pressure each state to submit
detailed reports of every abortion that is carried out within that state.
And it would require the CDC to monitor and report abortion complications.
That would include children being born alive after an abortiona
misleading phrase because the vast majority of abortions take place long
before a fetus becomes viable and doctors are required by law to provide
care once an infant is born.
Agriculture

The Department of Agricultures current functions are as diverse and wide-
reaching as providing loans for rural development and defending U.S.
livestock from flesh-eating worms. The department has a crucial role in
national nutrition: the USDA has overseen the countrys largest food
assistance initiative, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
(SNAP), in its various forms since its World War IIera beginnings and
reintroduction in 1961. Project 2025 would cut eligibility for SNAP
benefits while moving the program to the HHS. And even though free school
lunches have consistently been found to improve academic performance, the
Heritage Foundations plan would restrict school meals provided through the
USDA and repeal the dietary guidelines that those meals are based on.

Under Project 2025, the USDAs scope would narrow to the efficient
production of food, undoing the departments current strategy to promote
renewable energy and protect national forests and agricultural land from
the climate crisis.
Climate Change

Across multiple departments and agencies, including the EPA, the Department
of Energy and NOAA, the project would jettison much of the federal
governments climate science apparatus; it dismissively refers to such
programs as climate alarmism. This move would significantly hinder
researchers ability to understand climate changes many impacts on our
daily lives. It would stifle information on how to adapt society and
infrastructure to threats such as increased flooding and more frequent and
extreme heat waves, all of which have been conclusively linked to rising
global temperatures. Cutting DOE research into renewable energy, battery
storage and other technologywhile increasing fossil fuel extraction on
federal landswould make reining in greenhouse gas emissions enough to meet
the goals of the Paris climate accord all but impossible.

Any attempt to reverse policies, any attempt to slow down this transition
to clean energy, is putting us at greater risk from climate changes
severe impacts, Cleetus says. She notes that the 2025 scheme targets the
EPAs 2009 endangerment findinga bedrock of climate policy that identifies
heat-trapping pollutants as a public health threat. But distorting or
burying science does not change the reality of the climate crisis. Science
will not bend to political will, Cleetus adds, but what will happen is
that people will suffer.

To oversee and reform research at the EPA, Project 2025 would install a
science adviser who would report directly to the presidential
administration, as well as multiple new senior political appointees. Its
pretty alarming, and it would be completely new for us, says Joyce Howell,
a Philadelphia-based EPA attorney speaking in her capacity as executive
vice president of AFGE Council 238, a union of employees of the agency.

Nope. I grew up waiting for the ozone to go away, never happened. I
waited for the next ice age, never happened. This is just a hot year.
Nothing more.

That constitutes a DEATH THREAT against a former President, Rudey:

18 U.S. Code § 871 - Threats against President and successors to the
Presidency
U.S. Code
Notes
prev | next
(a)Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits for conveyance in the mail
or for a delivery from any post office or by any letter carrier any
letter, paper, writing, print, missive, or document containing any
threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon
the President of the United States, the President-elect, the Vice
President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office
of President of the United States, or the Vice President-elect, or
knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the
President, President-elect, Vice President or other officer next in the
order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect,
shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years,
or both.
(b)The terms “President-elect” and “Vice President-elect” as used in
this section shall mean such persons as are the apparent successful
candidates for the offices of President and Vice President,
respectively, as ascertained from the results of the general elections
held to determine the electors of President and Vice President in
accordance with title 3, United States Code, sections 1 and 2. The
phrase “other officer next in the order of succession to the office of
President” as used in this section shall mean the person next in the
order of succession to act as President in accordance with title 3,

9-65.200 - Threats Against the President and Successors to the
Presidency; Threats Against Former Presidents; and Certain Other Secret
Service Protectees
The Counterterrorism Section of the National Security Division has
supervisory authority over 18 U.S.C. §§ 871 and 879 cases. As great
caution must be taken in matters relating to the security of the persons
protected by 18 U.S.C. § 871, United States Attorneys are encouraged to
consult with the Counterterrorism Section (CTS) of the National Security
Division when they have doubts on the prosecutive merit of a case. For
the same reason, dismissal of complaints under 18 U.S.C. § 871, when the
defendant is in custody under the Mental Incompetency Statutes (18
U.S.C. §§ 4244, 4246), requires approval from CTS. In other cases,
United States Attorneys must consult prior to dismissing a count
involving, or entering into any sentence commitment or other case
settlement involving a § 871 charge.

https://www.secretservice.gov/newsroom/releases/2024/01/phoenix-man-arrested-making-online-death-threats-against-president-and

PHOENIX –David Michael Hanson, 41, of Phoenix, was arrested on Wednesday
for making online threats against the President and Vice-President.
Hanson was charged by Federal criminal complaint on Tuesday with five
counts of Threats Against the President and Successors to the Presidency
and five counts of Interstate Communication of Threats.

The complaint alleges that in November and December of 2023, while
living in Arizona, Hanson used a social media platform to post threats
to murder the President and Vice President of the United States. On
November 19, 2023, Hanson posted online a series of threatening
statements including one that stated, “#joeAndKamala I’m asking you to
resign on Monday your alternative is death brutally murdered.” After the
U.S. Secret Service spoke to Hanson and warned him that it was a Federal
crime to post such threats, on December 23, 2023, Hanson posted another
series of similar threats aimed at the President and Vice-President.

Each count of Threats Against the President and Successors to the
Presidency carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a fine of
up to $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release. Each count
of Interstate Communication of Threats carries a maximum sentence of
five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and up to three years of
supervised release.

A complaint is simply a method by which a person is charged with
criminal activity and raises no inference of guilt. An individual is
presumed innocent until evidence is presented to a jury that establishes
guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The United States Secret Service is conducting the investigation in this
case. The United States Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, is
handling the prosecution.

Because we banned CFCs. Otherwise, it would have.

Anthropogenic global warming is real. If we let you drive at all, it's going to
be an EV. Guaranteed.

However, we have higher temperatures in our past while they have not 'seen'
but when have been established by scientific method by other scientists.

https://www.drroyspencer.com/library/pics/2000-years-of-global-temperature.jpg

Since we have no idea why global temperatures have increased and declined
over time.. it's impossible to establish whether the causes from then would
apply to today. For example, How much change in solar luminosity would it
take to produce such a change over several hundred years, particularly when
we consider possible feedback loops?

Because right now there is a major flaw in the reasoning of man caused
climate change.. which is that the climate started changing PRIOR to any
change in atmospheric CO2. Which would place the effect BEFORE the asserted
cause. Finally, we are globally still recovering from the Mini Ice Age of
the medieval period so is it dire global warming to return back to where you
were at naturally?

So no, yesterday was not the hottest day on Earth and we really don't know
why climate changes.. I suspect changes of solar luminosity but we're only
had accurate readings of that over the last few decades and even then
changes in technology causes it's own issues.

Yep.. we change global disasters faster than we change politicians... but it
always seems to be an existential crisis that requires massive and immediate
changes and spending to occur... or else.

All of course, does two things. it allows politicians to enrich themselves,
and gives them an excuse for whatever it is they want to spend your money
on.. because it's to save the planet from phony baloney crisis.

No source, scooter, so fake.

And that does not show a *day* hotter than this past Sunday, scooter.

Ball wants to stake the entire credibility of the alleged manmade
climate change debate on records that account for 0.00000411111111% of
earth's creation. Per many things in his wretched seven+ decade life of
absolute and total misery, he comes up...well, short.

Presidency
U.S. Code
