Alas, gotta agree with Joe here - US Steel is an asset
which should remain ALL ours.

Nothing against Japan, they'd have probably run it OK,
but it today's environment there are certain assets
we need in OUR pocket just in case the world situation
gets worse.

Note that when Xi moves on Taiwan, Japan is gonna get
caught up in it to some degree. That distraction may
have done damage to its ability to manage US Steel.
Likely some OTHER valuable assets Japan owns in the
USA may suffer as well. We'll have to look at that.

I'll wager there is massive corruption going on within the company
and the execs are nervous they are going to get caught as Trump's administration
works to rebuild the company. Forensic accounting is always a part of restructuring.
From what I am reading the rank and file are against a Japan purchase.
Blocking the sale is one of the very few things Biden has done correctly.

There is nothing inherently wrong with being in debt, as long as it's smart
debt. Most people who "own" a house have or had a mortgage. As long as your
mortgage-to-income ratio is reasonable, typically 28% or less, that debt is prudent.

The problem is virtually *none* of Trump's business debt has ever been prudent.
That's why he has so many bankruptcies. I'll grant that he has some talent in
holding and managing some real estate, but he has *failed* in all other business
endeavors. He's stupid and reckless.

I remember lefties bitching about how Trump and Trump
endeavours kept going technically bankrupt. Alas this
is not unusual in the Big Properties biz ... it's a
HUGE investment, and then you have to WAIT awhile
for the sale to wipe out that debt. Nature of that
